Medusa - Sculpture

Own a piece from classical Greek mythology! This is a life size head of Medusa and all her snakes. She was the only Gorgon who was mortal. Dedicated as a celibate priestess of Athena, she was wooed by Poseidon, Lord of the Oceans. She forgot her vows and became his lover. Athena punished her in a most terrible manner. Each wavy lock of the beautiful hair was changed into a venomous snake. Men turned to stone just by looking at her. Perseus freed her by taking her head off and using its magic to kill the Kraken. Yet, even in her transformation – she is still beautiful with colorful, meandering snakes. A masterful sculpture. Just don’t  get mesmerized by her gaze.
